In this episode we will continue reading from the book, Shout of Buddha: Writings of Haya Akegarasu, which was published in 1977. In this episode I will be reading the essay:
Go On
A note on how I am reading the essays in the book. Unlike the previous books I read from, I am not reading the essays from Shout of Buddha in order. Nor will I read all 211 essays. I’ve decided to select essays that seem appropriate to the times or just appropriate or interesting for me to read on the day.
Again, like Episode 60, this essay seemed so appropriate for today’s divisive times and as something that I hope might buoy our spirits as our government and social structure seems to be falling apart around us.
As Rev. Haya Akegarasu wrote:
Let’s go on courageously, Nothing to worry about! Don’t you understand that your are full of power in your guts: the muscles in your arms are crying out, aren’t they? Without paying attention to our surroundings, dancing and shouting, let’s go on!
And because it seems so perfect, I am offering it, again, free to both free and paid subscribers.
As I’ve mentioned, the writings and teachings of Haya Akegarasu, his thinking and expression, are completely unique to what you find in much of Buddhist teachings. This uniqueness is passed on to his student, Rev. Gyomay Kubose, and Rev. Gyomay’s son, my teacher Rev. Koyo Kubose.
Please take some time to deeply consider these teachings so that you take them as your own, without worrying about whether they are Buddhist or anything else. Don’t label. It is that spirit that is the spirit of The Bright Dawn Center of Oneness Buddhism and the Kubose Dharma Legacy.
I hope you will subscribe to hear more from the teachings and teachers of the Bright Dawn / Kubose Dharma Legacy lineage.
