In this episode we will continue reading from the book, Shout of Buddha: Writings of Haya Akegarasu, which was published in 1977. In this episode I will read the essay, Cicada, but I will also share some thoughts of my own on the Cicada, sharing a Dharma talk I gave to the Everyday Sangha in 2022.
Because of my added Dharma talk, I will share it as a free episode for all subscribers.
As I’ve mentioned, the writings and teachings of Haya Akegarasu, his thinking and expression, are completely unique to what you find in much of Buddhist teachings. This uniqueness is passed on to his student, Rev. Gyomay Kubose, and Rev. Gyomay’s son, my teacher Rev. Koyo Kubose.
Please take some time to deeply consider these teachings so that you take them as your own, without worrying about whether they are Buddhist or anything else. Don’t label. It is that spirit that is the spirit of The Bright Dawn Center of Oneness Buddhism and the Kubose Dharma Legacy.
I hope you will subscribe to hear more from the teachings and teachers of the Bright Dawn / Kubose Dharma Legacy lineage.
