In this episode I will be reading part 2 of a two-part episode of the the essay Keep Going. Take a journey through Rev. Koyo’s reflections as he runs around Lake Michigan, discovering the spiritual lessons he sees in around him. One is:

When running past a pair of small trees he calls “Jitterbugging Trees”, because they look like their dancing, he reflects:

Some people take their religion too seriously in a reserved, pious way. This is why I prefer the word spiritual rather than religious. I don’t mean spiritual as in spirits floating around but as in having a lively spirit, Spirituality means to have a passion for life, not just some kind of empty emotionalism. Spirituality involves guiding such energy rather than muting it.

~Rev. Koyo Kubose
